Start Date: June 13, 2026

End Date: June 14, 2026

Venue: Ulsoor Bhavan, Bangalore

Sri Aurobindo Society Ulsoor Bhavan Centre, Bengaluru, Karnataka invited BhāratShakti team to conduct a special 2-day Satsang sessions for its community members on a broader theme connecting Yoga with practical aspects of Life. After some discussions, the theme finalised was Yoga and Life: Insights from the Bhagavad Gita, and two specific topics were identified keeping in mind the diversity across ages and the practical need of the audience.

Day 1 – June 13, 2026
Topic: धर्मक्षेत्रे कुरुक्षेत्रे | dharmakṣetre kurukṣetre

Day 2 – June 14, 2026
Topic: कर्मण्येवाधिकारस्ते | karmaṇyevādhikāraste

Dr. Beloo Mehra, Director, BhāratShakti and Ms. Chitra Kolluru, a Facilitator for BhāratShakti were the two speakers for this 2-day event.

On day-1, the topics spanning ‘The Battle of Life’, ‘The great object of spiritual Life as per Bhagvad Gita’ and ‘Social Conduct or following Dharma’ were taken up under the larger theme of Life and War titled ‘Dharmekhetre Kurukshetre’. A reflective piece penned by the Mother dated 16th September 1953 titled, ‘On Life as a Battlefield’ was handed as a pre-read to the participants before the talks began.

On day-2, the theme was around Work titled ‘Karmanye Vadhikaraste’ and the topics included, ‘Yoga and Skill in works’ and ‘Work as Sacrifice’.

Spanning the two days, Dr. Beloo Mehra covered important aspects such as the ‘historical and cultural significance of the terms, ‘Dharmakhetre’ and Kurukshetre’; ‘the right action and related progress in the field of Battle and Life’ on day 1. On day 2 she took up the important topic of desireless and egoless action, the quality of Samatvam or Equality that makes it possible and what Gita means by skill in works in the context of Yoga, comparing it to modern society.

Continuing on foundation and depth laid by Dr. Mehra’s talks, on day 1, Ms. Chitra Kolluru elaborated on Life as a battle by ‘delving into the characters of the teacher and the disciple in the Bhagvad Gita’ and ‘what we can learn from their personalities and more broadly from the creed of the Aryan fighter’.

On day 2 she took on ‘Work as Sacrifice’ starting from ‘Nishkama Karma’ and renunciation to explaining the ‘Sthithapragnya in the Gita’ and finally arriving at offering of works to the highest in us as the only way of being desireless.

Both Dr. Mehra and Ms. Kolluru alluded to many key verses from the Gita along with Sri Aurobindo’s interpretations to elaborate on the themes. This helped establish some of the concepts from the Bhagavad Gita and how the yoga of the Gita was a necessary stage before venturing into the Integral Yoga of Sri Aurobindo. Examples from the life and teachings of Sri Aurobindo and the Mother made it real for the participants to draw from the talks and relate with their own readings and experiences.

The 2-day talk series was attended by about 40-50 participants each day and witnessed some very interesting questions being raised by the audience and answered by the two speakers making it a good starting point for subsequent deeper reflection.

The 2-day event ended in an environment of learning and reflection and with much gratitude to the Mother and to the coordinators of Ulsoor bhavan for making this possible.
