Date: February 16, 2026
Venue: Sri Aurobindo Sadhana Kendra, Vallabh Vidyanagar, Gujarat
During the recent visit of Dr. Beloo Mehra, Director, BhāratShakti, Sri Aurobindo Society, to Gujarat, a special satsang was organised on February 16, 2026 by Dr. Rajeshwari Singh, President of Sri Aurobindo Sadhana Kendra (SASK), Vallabh Vidyanagar. The satsang was attended by several sadhaks in Vallabh Vidyanagar, Anand and surrounding areas.
As 2026 marks the 100 years of Siddhi Diwas and the official foundation of Sri Aurobindo Ashram, the topic chosen for Dr. Beloo Mehra’s talk at the satsang was – “When the Divine Came Down into the Material – Significance of Siddhi Divas”.

The evening began with a musical invocation to the Mother followed by singing of a couple of bhajans by the sadhaks. Dr. Mehra was invited to then present her talk on the selected topic. Dr. Mehra chose to speak in a combination of English and Hindi given the audience preference.

She began by speaking about her two visits in 2025 to the prison cell in Calcutta where Aurobindo Ghose was imprisoned for a year, where he had great transformative experiences that were to change the course of his life to transform him into Sri Aurobindo. Sri Aurobindo’s imprisonment became an important turning point of his yogic life. During this period of solitude, he experienced Sri Krishna as a living Divine Presence guiding him from within. In that cell, the walls, the bars, the trees outside—all appeared as expressions of Vasudeva.

Dr. Mehra reminded the sadhaks present that it was in Presidency Jail that the true Karmayoga of the Gita as well as a new Nirukta were given to Sri Aurobindo by Sri Krishna himself. He received further guidance from Swami Vivekananda also in the prison on the lines of Sadhana that he had to pursue.
Building upon this experience of Sri Aurobindo in prison – Vasudeva Sarvam Iti , Dr. Mehra made some remarks on the oneness of Sri Aurobindo and Sri Krishna consciousness and how Sri Aurobindo’s work evolved after prison experience. She also pointed out a few references in this regard from Sri Aurobindo’s famous speech at Uttarpara in which he spoke of Sri Krishna’s guidance.

Dr. Mehra then shared a few details on what Sri Aurobindo has said about the work at Ashram as a continuation of Sri Krishna’s work, pointing out three specific points. She briefly recounted the events of November 24, 2026, the Siddhi Divas as has been documented by several disciples who were present on that momentous day.
The event of November 24, 1926—Siddhi Day—marked a decisive movement in Sri Aurobindo’s yogic mission. Sri Krishna, as the Overmind Godhead, descended into Sri Aurobindo’s physical consciousness, fixing Himself there. This was a concrete yogic realization that opened the possibility for the Supramental descent.

The Overmind, being the highest plane below the Supramental, had to be brought into the physical before the next evolutionary step could be attempted. This Siddhi marked the completion of a major phase of Sri Aurobindo’s yogic tapasya and the initiation of a new collective movement of consciousness. After the Siddhi of November 24, 1926, the Mother took charge of the inner and outer progress of all the sadhaks, and thus grew the Ashram organically under her direct guidance.
Dr. Mehra explained that the Mother’s detailed explanation of the 1926 Siddhi provides invaluable insight into its deeper significance. She clarified that Krishna’s descent into Sri Aurobindo was a permanent presence, different from the occasional or fluctuating descent of gods described in ancient texts. This descent was necessary for the creation of a new supramental consciousness on earth.

The Mother described her own parallel work of preparing an ‘overmental creation’ and how she requested Krishna to incarnate for the divine manifestation. When Krishna accepted and became fixed in Sri Aurobindo, he withdrew for intense sadhana and entrusted the Mother with the external guidance of the disciples. The Ashram as we know it today emerged directly from this pivotal moment.
Dr. Mehra concluded her talk by saying that the centenary of Siddhi Diwas invites us to contemplate the vast evolutionary arc linking Sri Krishna’s ancient mission to Sri Aurobindo’s modern yogic work. Their oneness reveals the continuity of the Divine’s unfolding plan for the earth — for the divinization of earthly life. As seekers and children of the Mother, let us make this centenary year an occasion to strengthen our aspiration to participate consciously in this great unfolding, said Dr. Mehra.
