The second Global Spirituality Mahotsav was organised from March 1 to March 3, 2026 by the Auroville Foundation in collaboration with the government of Puducherry and the Union Ministry of Culture. This celebration marked the culmination of the nation-wide celebration by the Government of India of the 150th birth anniversary of Sri Aurobindo.
The Global Spirituality Mohtasav 2026 was inaugurated on March 1 by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, who chairs the high-level committee constituted by a government resolution to commemorate the 150th birth anniversary of Sri Aurobindo.
The 2026 edition of Global Spirituality Mohatsav reaffirmed India’s timeless role as a guide and bridge-builder in an increasingly interconnected world. The 3-day event focused on exploring the famous Five Dreams of Sri Aurobindo and their significance for the future evolutionary march of humanity.

On March 3, Dr. Beloo Mehra, Director, BharatShakti was invited to participate as a speaker in a plenary session on Integral Education. In her remarks, Dr. Mehra opened her remarks by saying that Integral Education is deeply connected with the fifth dream of Sri Aurobindo which emphasises the evolution of consciousness. She also spoke about the connection of Integral Education with Sri Aurobindo’s work as a teacher in Baroda College and his deep immersion into the vast ocean of Indian spiritual literature which emphasises an integral view of life and existence.

Dr. Mehra also said that it is essential to look at education as a conscious means of self-development, and reflect deeply on what true self-development means for a deeper fulfilment in life. Bringing in the concept of psychic education, she pointed out that while many other approaches of holisitc education speak of all-round development of the learner, it is the realm of Psychic Education which makes the vision of Integral Education as emerging from the Integral Yoga of Sri Aurobindo and the Mother, unique and most relevant for a true evolution of consciousness.
Dr. Mehra said that it is the emphasis on psychic education which emphasizes inner discovery—finding within oneself something which is independent of body, mind, environment, and cultural conditioning. This inner being carries universality and limitless expansion. The Mother describes how this psychic contact dissolves ego barriers and awakens empathy, enabling one to “live in all beings.”

Another important point emphasised by Dr. Mehra was that the new consciousness demands that we get rid of the earlier notions of our mind which see spirituality as something cut off from life. And in this regard, she pointed out an important reminder from the Mother when she said that there is no dichotomy between ordinary life and spiritual life. And this kind of awareness becomes meaningful when we rise above the mental consciousness and go inward in the quest for a psychic contact.

The fellow speaker in the session, Dr. Bijayani Mohapatra from Cuttack, Odisha, spoke about the Integral Education work happening at the community level in various parts of Odisha, and the spirit in which the volunteers take up this work of bringing Mother’s Light to people at the village level.

Later that evening, Dr. Mehra participated in a beautiful closing ceremony of the Global Spirituality Mohatsave. A thoughtfully prepared Declaration was read out during this ceremony as a statement of shared commitment and rededication to work towards realizing the Five Dreams of Sri Aurobindo.
