As part of Sri Aurobindo Society’s ongoing celebrations of 150th birth anniversary of Sri Aurobindo and 75th year of Indian Independence, a poster- exhibition titled ‘Bhārata Shakti – Mother India, a Power, a Godhead’ is on display from May 21 to May 30, 2022 at Ashram Exhibition House, Beach Road, Pondicherry. This exhibition is researched and curated by Dr. Beloo Mehra, Editor, Renaissance.
Prof. Gurmeet Singh, Vice-Chancellor of Pondicherry University inaugurated the exhibition on the evening of May 20, 2022 by lighting the lamp. A brief introduction was given by Dr. Beloo Mehra, the researcher and curator of the exhibition.
The exhibition celebrates the immortal Bhārata Shakti, the living force that is behind India’s persistence, survival and revival. This eternal shakti will continue to lead her toward a new future, a renaissance that is true to her inner genius and temperament.
Sri Aurobindo’s definition of a culture as an “expression of a consciousness of life which formulates itself in three aspects: a people’s highest thought and soul’s aspiration; their creative self-expression, aesthetic imagination and intelligence; and a side of practical and outward formulation,” is the guiding spirit of the exhibition.

After a walk through the exhibition, Prof. Gurmeet Singh said that such efforts are important to bring India’s eternal spiritual message to younger generations because India alone has the capability to offer lasting solutions to the problems of modern human civilization. He appreciated that the exhibition takes one on a journey from ancient wisdom of India to contemporary concerns which must be addressed for India’s rebirth.
In his comments in the visitors’ book, Prof. Gurmeet Singh expressed his sincere compliments for the remarkable effort and added: “The exhibition is a splendid effort “which has brought out all aspects of life… Sri Aurobindo’s work needs to be given to all youth so that they become a major force in our Rashtra Shakti.”
The inaugural event was covered by local media – Dinamalar and Thillai Mail.
