Dr. Beloo Mehra’s new book titled Antaryatra: Soul Journeys (2024, published by Sri Aurobindo’s Action with Brown Critique Books) was officially launched on September 23, 2024. The book is primarily written keeping the youth of India in mind. So it was perfect that the book be launched at an integral educational institution working on the progressive educational approach given to us by Sri Aurobindo and the Mother. Antaryatra was released at Creative School and Prajña Wisdom Centre located at the beautiful eco-campus called Freedom Land located in Doddaballapura, Bengaluru.
About the book
There are many young people in India today who are beginning to recognise the shallowness and superficiality of their ‘modern’ education which ends up uprooting them from their culture and history, and are now keen to discover for themselves truths about their identities and their culture, their country and their society, their roots and their heritage. Antaryatra: Soul Journeys follows the journeys of one such young man, Yuvaan.
Through the chapters of this book, the reader travels with Yuvaan as he discovers some truths about India and some truths about himself. Readers witness as Yuvaan awakens to the need for knowing the ‘soul’ of India and ‘that’ which may be his soul. They also meet his various guides and gurus along the way, and learn about his inspirations and his aspirations and join him in his challenges and his victories.
In every chapter readers have an opportunity, along with Yuvaan, to reflect on some key insights given by Sri Aurobindo on the future of India, on the work India is destined to do for the humanity and the world, on the path that India must follow if she has to awaken to her true nature and purpose, her svabhāva and her svadharma.
The venue
Creative school was a perfect venue for the release of this book which is based on a young person’s outer and inner journeys. Founded in 2010, Creative School is a conscious community and registered holistic school for children, parents, and teachers. Built upon the integral philosophy and pedagogy of Sri Aurobindo’s and the Mother’s vision of whole child development, the school’s curriculum and environment emphasize emotional, social, and spiritual development, alongside physical and intellectual growth. Accredited by Cambridge International, Karnataka State Board, and NIOS, Creative School has developed The Sacred Classroom ©, Life and Living (™), and The Joy of Teaching Series as its curriculum approaches.
The book was released by Jayashree Ashok and B. Ashok, the co-founders of The Healing Circle, which is the parent organization, along with their Board of Trustees including Reshma Madhusudan, Rathy Nair and Dhivya Naren. About 70 educators, curriculum developers and healers were present at the event.
