An Orientation for M.Ed. Students from Pondicherry University

Date: July 29, 2019
Venue: Sri Aurobindo Society

On July 29th, we hosted a special orientation event for a group of 50 Master of Education (M.Ed.) students who are currently attending a one-week Capacity Building Workshop on Research Skills and Methodology sponsored by the Ministry of Human Resource Development, GOI, conducted by School of Education, Pondicherry University.

The event included a few short sessions conducted by Dr. Beloo Mehra, Editor, Renaissance. The participants were given a short introduction to Sri Aurobindo and the Mother, especially focusing on their work in the area of education and human development. For almost all of the participants, this was their first introduction to Sri Aurobindo and the Mother’s vision and work.

The students were given a brief introduction about the various educational and research activities conducted by Sri Aurobindo Society. Specific emphasis was given to discussing the various activities we have been conducting in association with various departments of Pondicherry University.

After a short tea-break, the group was led to a walking tour of the Ashram area. The group included participants from various parts of the country, for many of whom this was their first visit to Pondicherry; so this tour was especially enlightening for them.

The group also visited Navavihan where they had a chance to meet with the Ashram artist, Mr. Sushanto Nath.

We had organised this special orientation programme at the request of Dr. Mumtaz Begum, Dean, School of Education (SOE), Pondicherry University. Dr. Sridevi from SOE accompanied the group on the visit to the Society.
